Helping puppies adapt and thrive in a human world with professional training and guidance.
Follow our expert recommendations for a well-behaved and happy companion.
As your new puppy will be in my care, I believe it's important to share a little about myself. I've been married for 26 years and have two wonderful children, aged 17 and 19. My family also includes three well-behaved and trained dogs, reflecting my lifelong passion for animals. Growing up, I was always surrounded by three to four dogs at a time, which shaped my deep love for these amazing companions.
In 2020, I became a certified canine behavioral specialist through the Dog Wizard Academy. This certification was important to me because I wanted to provide the best possible care and training for every puppy that comes into my life. Transition training is at the core of my approach, and it's unlike any other training program.
When your puppy leaves its littermates, it will come directly into my home - never a kennel. Here, your pup will learn how to navigate a human world, which is vastly different from their natural instincts. In the wild, dogs would spend their days hunting, finding shelter, and being guided by their mothers. This game them purpose, structure, and a healthy state of mind.
My goal is to provide that same sense of structure and communication for your puppy using positive reinforcement. Through this, your pup will learn how to thrive in a human environment and form a strong foundation for a happy, healthy life with you.
The foundation of communication with your puppy will be two key words: "yes" and "no". These are not commands but simple, clear markers to help your puppy understand what behaviors are encouraged or discouraged.
Your puppy will be introduced to the crate in both supervised and unsupervised settings to ensure it becomes their safe, comfortable space - much like a den. By the end of training, your puppy will be able to sleep in the crate for up to eight hours at night.
While potty training can't be fully mastered in just two to three weeks, I will establish a strong foundation. This process depends on the puppy's age and maturity, but you can rest assured that your puppy will be well on its way to learning how to go potty outside.
I focus on three essential commands: Sit, Down, and Touch (Come). These commands will set your puppy up for success and are reinforced throughout the training.
At the end of the transitional training, I offer two options to help you and your puppy transition smoothly into your home. I can provide a two-hour private lesson when dropping off your puppy or hold a Zoom conference.
